Ashot Ghoulyan is the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh. He is also the leader of the Democratic Party of Artsakh. ==Biography and Career== Born on August 19, 1965 in v. Khndzristan, Askeran region, Nagorno Karabakh. 1984–1986- Served in the Soviet Army. 1990- Graduated from the History Department of Stepanakert Branch of Kirovakan Pedagogical Institute with honors. 1991-1992 - Teacher at Khndzristan secondary school, simultaneously participating in the formation of the village self-defense forces. December 1992- Senior Assistant of the Committee of Foreign relations of NKR Supreme Council of the 1st convocation. September 15, 1993 - Assistant to the Chairman of the Supreme Council. January 1995 - Head of the Department of Diaspora and Bilateral Relations of NKR Ministry of Foreign Affairs. January 1998 - Head of the Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. December 1998 - NKR Deputy Foreign Minister. June 2001 - Elected Co-chairman of the socio-political organization “Democratic Artsakh Union". October 2002 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of NKR. December 2004 - Minister of Education, Culture and Sports of NKR. January 2005 - Elected Chairman of the Democratic Party of Artsakh. June 19, 2005 - Elected National Assembly Deputy by the proportional electoral system from the Democratic Party of Artsakh. June 30, 2005 - Chairman of the National Assembly of NKR. May 23, 2010 - Elected Deputy of the NKR National Assembly of the 5th convocation by the majority electoral system. June 10, 2010 - Re-elected Chairman of NKR National Assembly.
